Graded VG-EX 4 by PSA. The peerless Leroy (Satchel) Paige stars on the offered 1949 Bowman Baseball #224 rookie card. This Negro League legend is crease-free with relatively strong corners, pinpoint surface registration and clear accents. The gray reverse of this high number which confirms the Hall of Famer as "one of the most fabulous characters in baseball" is problem-free. Slight residue on the middle right edge is the only factor preventing an even higher assessment.
