The path to baseball's throne got a good bit harder in 1969. For more than sixty seasons, the postseason consisted solely of the World Series. With the MLB's expansion to twenty-four teams, a Playoff round was added in '69, putting a pretty steep hurdle in the way of league dominance. Led by skipper Earl Weaver, the Baltimore Orioles thrived under this new format, making three consecutive trips to the Fall Classic, from 1969-1971. The O's success peaked in 1970, when four unbeatable pitching aces and more than a fair share of  three-run homers made them the cream of the crop. Oh, and there was also Brooks "The Human Vacuum Cleaner" Robinson, who batted .429 in the 1970 World Series, while giving the Cincinnati Reds lineup nightmare visions of a ten-foot tall, eight-armed third baseman, who gobbled up every ball put in play. 

This Orioles crowning achievement is preserved for posterity, with this SGC slabbed 1970 World Series Game 5 "clincher" full ticket. This massive 6 x 2-3/4" ticket is encapsulated with an SGC (Authentic) designation, and the graphics still present boldly, after fifty years. Label notations include the game score "Orioles 9 - Reds 3", and "Frank Robinson 2 Home Runs".
