Description

Don't get angry, get MAD with this 1956-1976 MAD magazine lot of (59). Counting as a partial run of (54) different issues from the defined date range, this collection also includes (4) of the tough specials and (1) duplicate. Launched in 1952, this long-running humor magazine enjoyed a sixty-seven year run, testifying to its incredible popularity. Staffed by genius writers and artists, such as Harvey Kurtzman, Wally Wood, Norman Mingo, John Severin, Mort Drucker, Don Martin, Frank Jacobs, Sergio Aragonés and other madcap contributors, MAD aimed low in lampooning high profile public figures and icons, while setting the bar high for quality print entertainment. On an historical note, MAD changed format from comic book size to magazine size, beginning with issue #24, allowing publisher William Gaines and editor Kurtzman to avoid the Comics Code Authority, while delivering adult oriented content. This selection of vintage Gold/Silver Age issues is a strong starting point towards building a run of this wickedly funny title. Condition ranges (90% VG to FN+, 10% lesser).
