Description

With a .328 lifetime average, Wade Boggs ranks high up on the list of all-time batting leaders. Boggs was a man with a hitting plan, and also a lot of superstitions and rituals. While we can't get you inside his head, perhaps we can get inside his hat. Offered is a c.1988-1991 Boston Red Sox game-used cap, attributed to Boggs. A New Era factory label, and a size 7-3/8 tag are located on the interior band, and an embroidered "B" logo adorns the front of the cap. Boggs' uniform number "26" is written on the underside of the bill, and Boggs has signed ("7-8") next to the number. Light wear is evident, mainly in the form of sweat staining on the interior band, and the bill has been slightly bent/shaped at the center, consistent in manner with the way Boggs is seen wearing his cap on many of his baseball cards issued between 1988 and 1991. While the accompanying LOA from Phil Wood is ambiguous in regards to Boggs having worn this hat, it does cite this as a "genuine 1988-91 Boston Red Sox cap". Auction LOA from JSA for the autograph.
