Here’s “Mugsy”! Legendary New York Giants manager John McGraw is captured mugging in this original type I photograph (GD). Measuring 9-1/2 x 7” this vintage photo also features Giants coaches Dave Bancroft and Tommy Clarke who joined the team in 1930 and 1932 respectively, dating this photo to 1932 the year McGraw retired. Disappointed that Bill Terry was named as McGraw’s replacement fellow HOFer Bancroft left the team shortly after McGraw stepped down. While Clarke continued on for several seasons with the Giants, 1932 was the only year all three of these baseball lifers were together with Giants. Moderate signs of age-appropriate wear include two clipped corners, minor surface paper loss in the lower central region and light overall rippling. Clarke has this photo just above his uniform letters (“8“), no authentication due to time/costs.
