Perhaps the most memorable bout in boxing history, the first Muhammad Ali-Joe Frazier fight is widely known as the “The Fight of the Century”. With both fighters armed with legitimate claims to the heavyweight title this match reached new levels of hype. Presented is a remarkable Ali-Frazier dual-signed original period CCTV poster touting the 3/8/71 Madison Square Garden main event. Measuring 14 x 21-7/8” this glorious placard features incredible photos of the two gladiator-like combatants along with vivid red, yellow and black graphics against a clean white background. Interestingly the names of the fighters are imposed in incorrect order over their photos. Generally this dynamic display piece presents in excellent condition with only minor corner wear and a barely noticeable 3” crease at lower left which in no way affects the photos or lettering. Signed on the white field in the upper region, both prizefighters' vintage endorsements radiate powerfully, meriting equally solid (“9-10”) strength designations. Imprinted at lower left next to a hallmark symbol is “Murray Poster Co. Inc., 521 W. 23rd St. N.Y. 10011". Fascinating blurbs include “The Greatest Event In All Sports
To accommodate two undefeated heavyweights, Ali's photo is first but Frazier's name is first. It should be noted this poster mentions both "Ali" and "Cassius Clay" with the signature of Ali showing characteristics of an early-1990's vintage autograph.
