The early 1950s saw the New York Giants riding high as they racked up four winning seasons including two trips to the World Series. Presented is a 1952 Giants team-signed ONL/Giles baseball featuring (25) signatures. Displaying desirable (average “7-9”) strength endorsements this significant sphere is thinly shellacked and rates a solid (EX) designation with variable moderate toning. Key signers are: HOFers: Irvin and Wilhelm; Stars: Dark, Elliott, Koslo, Maglie, Rigney, Thompson and Thomson. Full photo LOA from JSA. More on our website.
All signatures were applied in blue ballpoint pen (with the exception of Durocher which is stamped) and are clearly legible against light to moderate walnut toned panels. The red stitching is solid and tight. League and manufacturing stamps are bold, however the Spalding stamp is lightly affected by a 1/2” thumbnail abrasion. Signatures average (“7” to “9”) unless noted. The complete list of included signers is as follows:
Sweet Spot: Leo Durocher (stamped)
North Panel: Bob Hoffman, Hal Gregg, George Spencer, Chuck Diering, Bob Elliott, Sal Yvars (small abrasions), Don Mueller, Monte Irvin (minor ink migration)
South Panel: George Wilson, Bobby Thomson, Hoyt Wilhelm, Whitey Lockman, Dave Williams, Al Dark
East Panel: Monte Kennedy, Larry Jansen, Bill Rigney
West Panel: Max Lanier, Hank Thompson, Jim Hearn (“6-7”), Dave Koslo, Bill Howerton, Wes Westrum, Sal Maglie
