September 25, 1968 Cincinnati Reds at Pittsburgh Pirates: a 3-0 Reds triumph in which Roberto Clemente registered career hit number 2,379. Hall of Famers Bench, Mazeroski, Perez and Stargell also played. Likely taken from a season ticket booklet, the thin stock Forbes Field voucher presents (EX-MT).

September 8, 1969 Chicago Cubs at New York Mets: a 3-2 Mets victory; Chicago had led the division by as many as nine games as late as August 17, but endured several losing streaks, including an eight-game skid that allowed the Mets to take over the top spot. This particular setback was the Cubs’ 5th of those eight straight, trimming their lead to just two games. The following day, the infamous “black cat” strolled behind Cubs third baseman Ron Santo in the on-deck circle, symbolically sealing the Cubs’ fate.
