Peering to his left, this 1960-1961 Baltimore Colts “Jumbo” promotional bobblehead doll casts a quizzical glance as if to ask, “Are there any of us left?” Well, to answer that question, “not many.” Standing 15”-tall (anywhere from 13-1/2” to 15” as the cranium nods with approval), the papier mâché keepsake is ball-toting figurine clad in his blue home jersey and horseshoe-themed helmet, reminders of that since-moved franchise whose glorious years were marked by the NFL’s first marching band and cheerleaders, the immortal Johnny Unitas and 2:00 kickoff times mandated by the Waverly neighborhood’s blue laws. As rare as the team’s attributes, “Jumbo” examples were displayed as point-of-sale advertisements and were not available for retail sale. This survivor presents beautifully! More on our website.

Gorgeous attributes include a vibrant original coat of blue paint (with blue accents on the helmet and pant legs), brown shoes, cream-colored pants and helmet, and peach colored skin with reddish “blush” highlights on the cheeks. For the sake of accuracy, we report a hairline crack at the back of the neck (a minor flaw considering the weight and distance of the oversized doll’s “nods”); a small hole in the hollowed portion of the shoe’s underside; and minimal restoration to the “COLTS” decal on the front of the jersey. The “00” identifiers on the back and right shoulder remain 100% and flake-free.
